Collective Intelligence refers to the augmented capacity of a community to think more effectively, than when individuals are not aware of each others’ ideas.

In OLnet, we’re asking: What does CI for the OER movement look like?

The primary tools that we are working with are:

Compendium …we dub this “Excel for Knowledge”: a generic tool for managing ideas and their connections, including real time capture of discussions [home] [blog]

Cloudworks …informal information exchange, discussion and resource sharing — often used to provide an online space to accompany f2f meetings, including several OER conferences [home] [blog]

Cohere …web-based annotation and discussion – Compendium-lite on the web). This will be refined and extended as we research and prototype infrastructure to aggregate the community’s collective experiences of designing and using OERs, plus the current debates confronting the OER movement more broadly [home] [blog]

The Q&A land rush is on. Quora, of course, has been hyped to the moon, and not without reason. Fortune magazine recently profiled five more Q&A sites, and three new ones just launched: Cloudy, where your friends answer your questions via SMS; InboxQ, Q&A on Twitter; and Setlr¹, which is like Twitter for yes/no questions. Is this a bubble full of copycats doomed to wither into Yahoo Answers Redux? Maybe – but I don’t think so. I think there’s something important going on here, and it’s more than just questions and answers. I think these are the first skirmishes in the reputation wars
